Job Title: ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Summary: Assist the Dean in shaping the future of the College, enhancing external visibility and recognition of the College, and supporting programs to meet society’s needs. The Associate Dean will work with the Dean, department chairs, faculty, and other University officials in the recruitment, retention, and education of a high quality, diverse student body.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Facilitate ABET accreditation of all engineering programs.
Coordinate and promote innovative educational programs consistent with the College Strategic Plan.
Serve as the College liaison to the
Coordinate and facilitate collaboration between the Department of Engineering Fundamentals and the other engineering departments.
Facilitate educational outcomes assessment in the College: chair College Assessment Committee; participate in University Assessment Council; manage alumni and advising surveys’ and distribute F.E. Exam results to departments.
Facilitate collaboration between senior design programs across the College.
Oversee the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree program: resolve curricular issues; chair BSE Governance Committee; advise students; assess program; maintain accreditation; monitor distance learning component.
Coordinate enrollment management and recruitment: monitor applications/admissions process; monitor enrollment; meet with prospective students, especially ECO, EUN; monitor transfer process for ECO students.
Participate in the Student Retention Review Committee: monitor COE retention data; participate in strategic planning to improve student retention.
Facilitate and promote Undergrad Research Programs.
Promote diversity for the College: participate in COE Faculty Success Committee; assist in relationships with HBCU’s; monitor diversity data prepared by others; participate in Educational Opportunities Corporate Advisory Board.
Work with International Programs and Services staff on undergraduate program development; review curricula and courses at our international partner institutions.
Facilitate distance learning and student transfer programs in the College: manage assessment for ABET accreditation; promote the creation of new 2+2 and 2+3 programs including schools in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Engineering
Supervisory Responsibilities: functional supervision may be exercised over support staff.

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
Ph.D. or equivalent in engineering, and a distinguished professional record appropriate for a tenured appointment on an engineering faculty.
Six years full-time experience as an engineering faculty and rank of associate professor.
DESIRABLE:
Rank of full professor in an engineering discipline.
