I really wish I could take my own bike on the bus and on all Amtrak trains I often use to get anywhere and get off the train and go bike riding. Of course one can rent a bike in LA and California (several places) or Texas, or New Mexico, Arizona. Or I even get a cheap $69 bike and use it for the week or more. I keep a bike in Texas at mom's for when I go there.

In California many Amtrak Trains have bike racks as well as the buses, so you can really get around.
