Michigan Tech’s Office of Technology and Economic Development has launched TechFinder®, a website that contains abstracts and contact information for technologies developed at Michigan Tech.
TechFinder® is searchable by title, designated keywords, and general keywords. In addition to intellectual property, the system will be used in the future to market researcher expertise, facilities, and equipment to potential research sponsors and technical collaborators.
The TechFinder® system is fed by TechTracS, which is used for man-aging data related to invention disclosures, patents, and licenses as well as sponsored research. “Marketing is a challenge faced by many technology transfer and research offices, and this system will provide an additional mechanism to promote Michigan Tech’s research capabilities, facilities, and tech-nology,” says Jim Baker, director of technology and economic develop-ment. “The fact that we can leverage data being collected for core business purposes allows us to add this marketing activity with little incremental staff effort.
”The TechFinder® portal can be accessed at techfinder.mtu.edu. Jim Baker can be reached at jrbaker@mtu.edu, 906-487-2228. |
