Great Lake freighters, passenger ships and boats and the U.S. Coast Guard ships passing by the Michigan Tech Campus in Houghton. The ships travel from Lake Superior through Portage Lake and the Keweenaw Waterway and Portage Lake Ship Canal. Passenger boats also travel to Isle Royale in Lake Superior or on dinner cruises or trips to see lighthouses or to the casino or other sites.
