Michigan Tech SSEED
Sustained Support to Ensure Engineering Degrees
Program Overview
Michigan Tech SSEED (Sustained Support to Ensure Engineering Degrees) is a scholarship program funded by the National Science Foundation NSF. The goals of the program are to:
- improve upper division retention rates of academically talented engineering students who have financial need and other risk factors that make it difficult to complete an undergraduate engineering degree.
- improve recruitment of women and minorities to graduate school.
Each year from 2011 to 2014, SSEED will support:
- 35 scholarships per year for junior and senior engineering students at amounts of $1000 to $5000.
- 5 scholarships per year for first year graduate engineering students at an amount of $8000 each.
The program will build a sense of community among the SSEED scholars and assist in making connections to ensure graduation and successful employment in engineering.
