Michigan Tech's new engineering curriculum option, now offered
as a minor, serves the needs of both students and industry. Called
the Enterprise Program,
the new curriculum gives a team of students from varied disciplines the opportunity to work for several
years in a business-like setting to solve real-world engineering problems
supplied by industry.
Michigan Tech won two awards at the 12th Environmental
Design Contest (April 7-11, 2002) that was held in Las Cruces, New
Mexico
A team of Michigan Tech students finished in the top half of the 2001 National Concrete Canoe Competition Steel Bridge, and Timber Beam competition.
FutureTruck team won "best use of advanced technology"
and "Spirit of the Challenge" awards while improving gas
mileage and lowering emissions in an SUV.

Michigan Tech took second place in the 10th Annual (2002)Environmental
Design Contest, where students demonstrated a method they
developed to unplug an underground pipeline filled with hardened
radioactive waste.
