Michigan Tech Alum and '69 Mechanical Engineering Graduate Dale Roberto held a Steak Bar B'Que for his 100 employees and invited the local Knoxville, Tenn business and community leaders to the event. Mr. Roberto holds this event every year where the business and community leaders serve the food to his employees as a show of appreciation for their hard work and effort. Mr. Roberto is the Pres.- CEO of Smalley Manufacturing located in Knoxville. He and his wife Sarah recently were special guest VIP weekend attendees hosted by Dr. Bill Predebon, Dept. Chair of the Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics held at MTU. Mr. Roberto is a strong supporter and advocate of MTU and has been meeting with MTU alumni in the Southeast region of the United States.
Michigan Tech Alum Glen Zinn '66 Geological Engineer and a member of the Geological Academy was the honored Keynote speaker at the First Annual Geological Student Awards Banquet held at the Wadsworth Hall Community Room. Mr. Zinn focused his evening's presentation on the vital need for students, faculty and administrators to be prepared by having a "Strategic Plan." His visit to MTU was hosted by Dr. Ted Bornhorst, of Geological Engineering. Mr. Zinn met with and listened to student presentations as well as attended a question and answer session with Geological faculty. He was introduced to Dr. Kent Wray and Dr. Bob Warrington where he discussed the critical need for a Strategic Planning review every two years. Mr. Zinn and his wife Denise recently moved from from Tucson, AZ to Roseburg, Oregon.
Jim Guider, Michigan Tech Mining grad '37 and Mining Academy member. Guider is very active these days corresponding with Dr. Komar Kawatra, providing feedback, input and overall shared experiences for Dr Kawatra's upcoming book on the subject of Coal Mining! Presently Mr. Guider spends his time with his closest and dearest friend and caretaker as well Ms. Pat Flanagan.

Bill Baxandall CE '56, takes time to visit Heather Wilson and Julie Bingham Executive staff from the College of Engineering. Civil Engineering Professors, Dr's Bogue Sandberg and Bill Bulleit attended recent senior design projects that tested stress of wood moments. The projects were funded by Mr Bill Baxandall, pictured in the middle. Dr's Sandberg and Bulleit remarked that Mr Baxandall's combined effort of supporting senior design with pertinent real world challenges exposed the students to a truly significant hands-on learning experience!
