was held on Saturday February 20, 2010 at Lake
Linden Community Park in Lake Linden MI. The event is an informal, but competitive Mini-Baja race held on a motocross-style track made out of snow!

Concrete Canoe Team Among the Top Five in the Nation
Michigan Tech's Concrete Canoe team placed in the top five at the National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC) in San Luis Obispo, Calif., which was held this past summer.

We tend to take flush toilets for granted. We see them in our homes, our schools, our workplaces and our entertainment sites, and one is rarely far away when we need it. Water-guzzling flush toilets have without a doubt improved sanitation for us in the United States. However, the humble pit latrine could be an important piece in the puzzle of improving sanitation worldwide |

Pulling their way for others
The team of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics seniors at Michigan Tech developed a Human-Powered Off-Road Wheelchair prototype that was created through the mechanical engineering senior capstone course. The 8-speed vehicle is easy to maneuver by pulling back on the handlebars and can reach speeds up to 4 mph, roughly equal to a slow jog, although the speeds are “user dependent.” |

Students Break 1,000 mpg in SAE Supermileage Competition
Michigan Tech's team surprised everyone last weekend by wringing a whopping 1,140 miles per gallon out of their low, sleek, custom-made vehicle in the 2009 SAE Supermileage competition.
The effort was enough to earn them a silver in the 25-team field in just their second year at the event, held June 4-5 at the Eaton Corporation Marshall Proving Grounds, in Lower Michigan.

Michigan Tech had 14 skiers named to the 2009 National Ski Coaches Association National All-Academic Ski Team. To be eligible, skiers had to have a 3.5 GPA for the Fall semester and have participated in the NCAA Central Regional Skiing Championships.
