Challenge X Challenge X is sponsorsed by General Motors and the U.S. Department of Energy and is a national collegiate motor vehicle competition. Michigan Tech Challenge X team scores as 11th out of 17.
  Matt Van Grinsven, an MS student in geology and Valerie Fuchs, who is pursuing both MS and PhD degrees in environmental engineering have each received a $5,000 DeVlieg Foundation Research Award in Wildlife and Environmental Studies to pursue two very different projects relating to water and the environment.
