David A. Edwards, Ph.D., was awarded the Melvin Calvin Medal of Distinction, Michigan Tech's highest honor, at the Spring 2007 Commencement.

George Siler George A. Siler, a 1972 chemical engineering graduate of Michigan Tech, was the featured speaker at the university's Spring Commencement. Alumnus Teo Babun ('72 ECE) on C-Span presenting his book in Coral Gables, Florida, The Cuban Revolution, Years of Promise by Teo A. Babun  and Victor Andres Triay; Teo A. Babun Jr. is a frequent guest commentator with CBS, CNN, CNBC, CBN, the BBC, and the German Television Network. His articles have appeared in the Miami Herald, El Nuevo Herald, Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and The Americas Business Journal. He is also the national executive director of ECHO-Cuba, a nonprofit effort to provide humanitarian aid in Cuba.

A native of Highland Park, MI, John Calder earned both his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1967 and his MS in Business Administration in 1977 at Michigan Tech. When he graduated in 1967, he completed nine interviews and had eight job offers.
